Indian Army team wins Gold medal in Exercise Cambrian Patrol 2021 held in Brecon, Wales (UK)          

Indian Army team wins Gold medal in Exercise Cambrian Patrol 2021A team from 4/5 Gorkha Rifles (Frontier Force) which represented the Indian Army at the prestigious Cambrian Patrol Exercise at Brecon, Wales, UK from 13th to 15th October 2021 has been awarded Gold medal.

General Sir Mark Carleton-Smith, the Chief of General Staff of British Army presented the Gold Medal to the team members in a formal ceremony on 15 October 2021.

Global Hunger Index 2021: India slips 7 spots to rank 101 among 116 countries  

India slips 7 spots to rank 101st among 116 countries: In the 2021 Global Hunger Index, India ranks 101st out of the 116 countries with sufficient data to calculate 2021 GHI scores. With a score of 27.5, India has a level of hunger that is serious. In 2020, India was ranked 94th out of 107 countries on the (GHI 2020) index.

According to the latest ranking of the Global Hunger Index (GHI) 2021, the level of hunger in India is serious, which has increased more than last year. Due to this, India has also lagged far behind its neighboring countries like Bangladesh (76), Nepal (76) and Pakistan (92) in the Global Hunger Index (GHI) 2021. Which is very disappointing, now the time has come that the Government of India (GOI) should also pay attention to the works of public welfare by making a special policy on topics like hunger, unemployment etc.

FM Nirmala Sitharaman attends Plenary Meeting of the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC) of the IMF in Washington D.C. 

Union Minister for Finance & Corporate Affairs Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman attended the Plenary Meeting of the International Monetary and Financial Committee of the Board of Governors of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) at the Annual Meetings 2021 held in Washington D.C. on 14th October 2021. The meeting was attended by Governors/Alternate Governors representing 190-member countries of the IMF.

The discussions at the meeting centered on “vaccinate, calibrate and accelerate” which is the theme of the Managing Director's Global Policy Agenda. The members of the IMFC elaborated on the actions and measures taken by member countries to combat COVID-19 and facilitate economic recovery.

About IMFC Meetings

The IMFC meets twice a year, once during the Fund-Bank Spring Meetings in April, and again during the Annual Meetings in October. The Committee discusses matters of common concern affecting the global economy and advises the IMF on the direction of its work.

The 17th Edition of Indo – US joint training exercise “EX YUDH ABHYAS 21” commenced at Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson, Alaska (USA) on 15 October 2021 with an opening ceremony that saw the unfurling of the National Flags of both countries amidst playing of the National anthems, “Jana Gana Mana” and “The Star Spangled Banner”.

PM Narendra Modi dedicates 7 new defence companies to the nation to make India world's largest military power.

To enhance functional autonomy, efficiency and unleash new growth potential and innovation, the Government has decided to convert Ordnance Factory Board from a Government Department into 7 100% Government owned corporate entities, as a measure to improve self-reliance in the defence preparedness of the country. Accordingly, 7 new Defence companies were incorporated, namely Munitions India Limited (MIL); Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited (AVANI); Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Limited (AWE
India); Troop Comforts Limited (TCL) (Troop Comfort Items); Yantra India Limited (YIL); India Optel Limited (IOL); and Gliders India Limited (GIL).

Chennai Super Kings beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 27 runs to win its fourth IPL title in Dubai last night. Coming to bat first, Chennai scored a huge total of 192 runs for the loss of three wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. In reply, Kolkata could only manage 165 for nine in 20 overs.

Faf du Plessis won the man of the match award for smashing a knock of 86 in 59 balls for Chennai.

India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 97.23 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 98.08%

With the administration of 8,36,118 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 97.23Cr (97,23,77,045) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.08%. Recovery Rate is currently at its highest peak since March 2020. 15,981 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours. New cases reported to be less than 20,000 for the past 8 days now.

The Weekly Positivity Rate at 1.44% remains less than 3% for the last 113 days now. The Daily Positivity rate reported to be 1.73%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 3% for the last 47 days and below 5% for 130 consecutive days now.
