PM Modi inaugurate Kushinagar International Airport in Uttar Pradesh today      

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Uttar Pradesh today to inaugurate various development works in Kushinagar that further the ‘Ease of Living’ and will mark the special Abhidhamma Day.

At around 10 AM, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Kushinagar International Airport. Kushinagar is the place where Gautam Buddha attained Mahaparinirvana.

The Kushinagar International Airport will get operational this week to ease cumbersome travel of earlier times and facilitate the air travel requirements of International Buddhist pilgrims in India.

72nd Inter-Services Football Championship was held in Kochi from 15 - 20 Oct 21  

The 72nd Inter-services Football Championship was held at Maharaja Stadium, Kochi between 15 - 20 Oct 21. Indian Navy, Army Red, Army Green and Indian Air Force teams participated in the four-day long championship conducted by Signal School under the aegis of the Southern Naval Command at Naval base, Kochi.

The finals were played between Army Red and Air Force. Rear Admiral Antony George, Chief of Staff, Southern Naval Command was the Chief Guest for the finals and Closing Ceremony on 20th Oct 21. The championship was won by the Indian Air Force. 

The Chief Guest presented the Services Football Trophy for the Year 2021-22 to the Indian Air Force and gave away the medals to the team members of the winners and runners up. The aim of this Championship is to select the Services Football Team for the Senior National Football Championship 2021-22.


President Kovind to reach Patna on a three-day official visit to Bihar today 

President Ram Nath Kovind will reach Patna today on a three-day official visit to Bihar. During the visit, President Kovind will participate in the celebrations to mark the centenary of the Bihar Legislative Assembly building tomorrow.

The President will also lay the foundation stone of the Shatabdi Memorial Tower (Shatabdi Smriti Stambh) and plant a Bodhi tree in the assembly complex before addressing the main function.


Delhi Metro starts training first batch of Dhaka Metro Operations and Maintenance staff  

Delhi Metro Rail Academy (DMRA) starts training the first batch of Dhaka Metro Operations and Maintenance staff located at Shastri Park Depot.

The training of the first batch of Dhaka Metro core staff and officers, comprising 19 Operations and 17 Rolling Stock officials, by DMRC officials, commenced at the Delhi Metro Rail Academy from 14th Oct, 2021. The training is a part of an agreement signed between DMRC and NKDM Association, a consortium of foreign and Bangladeshi companies looking after implementation of Dhaka MRTS project in Bangladesh, under which 163 officials of Dhaka Metro will be undergoing training at DMRA.

The training duration of the courses will vary from 24 days to 156 days as per the job profile of the participants. The training module includes interactive classroom sessions, demonstrations, simulators, practical, on-job training, etc.

Dhaka Metro will soon be beginning their Metro journey with the opening of their first line known as ‘MRT Line-6’ comprising 20.1 km.


India to participate in Moscow Format meet on Afghanistan today 

India will participate in the Moscow Format meeting on Afghanistan to be held today. The meeting is being hosted by Russia. This is the first Moscow format dialogue since the Taliban seized control of Afghanistan in August.

The Moscow Format Meeting was introduced in 2017 on the basis of a six-party mechanism for consultations between the Special Representatives of Russia, Afghanistan, China, Pakistan, Iran and India.


Ayush Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurates ‘Ayush Van’ in Gandhidham  

Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and AYUSH Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated Ayush Van, a dedicated forest for Ayurvedic plants in a program held at the Deendayal Port Trust (DPT)– Rotary Forest in the city.

The Ayush Van was set up in 30 acres of land allotted by DPT in green-belt area where tree plantation is being done to improve greenery in urban areas and increase density of tree cover in the Kutch region.

Piyush Goyal inaugurates 250mm Seer Water supply scheme in Kashmir 

Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs & Food & Public Distribution and Textiles, Piyush Goyal concludes his two day visit to Pahalgam as part of the public outreach programme of the central government.

The Union minister inaugurated the tourist hut of Pahalgam Development Authority at Golf Course Pahalgam. Shri Goyal also inaugurated Forest Departments Deodar sapling plantation drive being conducted under the banner of Green JK Drive. A total of 1 lakh saplings will be planted as part of the drive. Enquiring about post plantation care for the saplings, the minister was apprised that fencing and other appropriate watch and ward measures are taken.

The union minister Piyush Goyal inaugurated the 250mm Seer Water supply scheme. The project will benefit around 10000 people and will be completed under the ambit of Jal Jeevan Mission within three months. He appreciated the rapid pace of developmental works and commended the frontline workers for working towards realizing the Prime Minister's dream of tap water for all households.


Minister Sarbananda Sonowal lays Foundation Stone for various capacity augmentation projects at Deendayal Port, Kandla, Gujarat

Union Minister for Ports, Shipping & Waterways and AYUSH Sarbananda Sonowal laid the Foundation Stone for various capacity augmentation projects at Deendayal Port (DPT) at Kandla today. These included:
  • 2 Nos. Dome Shaped Godowns to be constructed within 12 months which will increase the covered storage capacity by 1.45 lakh metric tonnes at a cost of Rs.36 crore.
  • Oil Jetty No.8 at Old Kandla at a cost of Rs.99 crore, which will be constructed in 18 months’ time and increase the optimal capacity of Port by 3.50 MMTPA and reduce the waiting period turnaround time of vessels.
  • Parking Plaza for Trucks/Vehicles with ancillary facilities like canteen, garage, rest shelter, etc. being developed for pre-gate verification of documents to ease congestion of vehicles at the gates corresponding with digital initiatives like EBS & RFID being installed at these gates at a cost of Rs.14.59 crores.
  • Modernization of existing Pipeline Network, at a cost of Rs.126.50 crore has also been taken up for operational efficiency and to improve handling capacity of edible oil and chemicals at the Port. The project will increase the optimal capacity from 8 MMTPA to 23.8 MMTPA.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 99.12 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 98.15%

With the administration of 41,36,142 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 99.12 Cr (99,12,82,283) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.15%. Recovery Rate is currently at its highest peak since March 2020. 14,623 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

Weekly Positivity Rate at 1.34% remains less than 3% for the last 117 days now. The Daily Positivity rate reported to be 1.10%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 3% for the last 51 days and below 5% for 134 consecutive days now.
