President Ram Nath Kovind on a three-day official visit to Karnataka today      

The President of India Ram Nath Kovind will visit Karnataka from October 6 to 8, 2021.

On October 7, 2021, the President Kovind will inaugurate the newly built Teaching Hospital of the Chamarajanagar Institute of Medical Sciences at Chamarajanagar.

On October 8, 2021, the President Kovind will visit Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peetham and Shankara Advaita Research Centre in Sringeri. 


5th edition of India – Japan Maritime Bilateral Exercise, JIMEX to be held in Arabian Sea from 6 to 8 Oct 2021  

The fifth edition of India – Japan Maritime Bilateral Exercise, JIMEX, between the Indian Navy (IN) and the Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force (JMSDF), will be held in Arabian Sea from 06 to 08 October 2021. JIMEX series of exercises commenced in January 2012 with special focus on maritime security cooperation. The last edition of JIMEX was conducted in September 2020.

India – Japan Maritime Bilateral Exercise, JIMEX-21 aims to develop common understanding of operational procedures and enhance inter-operability through conduct of a multitude of advanced exercises, across the entire spectrum of maritime operations. Multi-faceted tactical exercises involving weapon firings, cross-deck helicopter operations and complex surface, anti-submarine and air warfare drills will consolidate coordination developed by the two navies.

Noted Cartoonist Yesudasan passed away in Kochi, Kerala. He was 83. Yesudasan was under treatment for Covid 19.

Yesudasan entered the world of political cartoons through Janyugom Malayalam daily. Later, Yesudasan worked with Shankar Weekly and satirical magazines Cut-Cut and Tuk Tuk published from New Delhi.


India win two bronze medals in Table Tennis at Asian Championship in Doha  

India created history by winning two more bronze medals in Table Tennis at the Asian Championships in Doha, Qatar.

For the first bronze medal of the day, the men's doubles pair of Harmeet Desai and Manav Thakkar went down fighting to South Korean pair of Woojin Jang and Jonghoon Lim by 2-3 in the semis.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage crosses the landmark of 92 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 97.94%

With the administration of 59,48,360 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage crossed the landmark of 92Cr (92,17,65,405) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 97.94%. Recovery Rate is currently at its highest peak since March 2020. 18,833 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

The Weekly Positivity Rate at 1.68% remains less than 3% for the last 103 days now. The Daily Positivity rate reported to be 1.34%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 3% for the last 37 days and below 5% for 120 consecutive days now.
