India approves two new anti-COVID-19 vaccines and one anti-viral drug for emergency use   

The Union Health Ministry has approved two Vaccines (CORBEVAX and COVOVAX) and anti-viral drug MOLNUPIRAVIR against COVID-19 for emergency use.

CORBEVAX vaccine is India's 1st indigenously developed RBD protein sub-unit vaccine against COVID-19, made by Hyderabad-based firm Biological-E. 

The Nanoparticle Vaccine, COVOVAX, will be manufactured by Pune-based firm Serum Institute of India. Molnupiravir, an antiviral drug, will now be manufactured in the country by 13 companies for restricted use under emergency situations for treatment of adult patients with COVID-19 and who have high risk of progression of the disease.......Read More


PM Modi to release 10th instalment of PM-KISAN on 1st January 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the 10th instalment of financial benefit under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme on 1st January, 2022 at 12:30 PM via video conferencing.

This will enable the transfer of an amount of more than Rs. 20,000 crore to more than 10 crore beneficiary farmer families.

Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme

Under the PM-KISAN scheme, a financial benefit of Rs. 6000/- per year is provided to the eligible beneficiary farmer families, payable in three equal 4-monthly installments of Rs.2000/- each. The fund is transferred directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. In this scheme, Samman Rashi of over Rs. 1.6 lakh crore has been transferred to farmer families so far.......Read More

PM Modi to inaugurate & lay foundation stone of 23 projects in Uttarakhand on 30 Dec 

Uttarakhand Assembly Elections 2022: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Haldwani, Uttarakhand on 30th December, 2021. PM Modi will inaugurate & lay the foundation stone of 23 projects worth over Rs 17500 crore. Among the 23 projects, the foundation stone will be laid for 17 projects worth over Rs 14100 crore. These Projects cover a wide array of sectors/areas across the state including irrigation, road, housing, health infrastructure, industry, sanitation, drinking water supply among others.

Indian Army Establishes Quantum Laboratory at Mhow, Madhya Pradesh  

The Army, with support from the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS) has recently established the Quantum Lab at Military College of Telecommunication Engineering, Mhow (MP) MCTE to spearhead research and training in this key developing field.

Indian Army has also established an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Centre at the same institution with over 140 deployments in forward areas and active support of industry and academia.

Research undertaken by Indian Army in the field of Quantum Technology will help leapfrog into next generation communication and transform the current system of cryptography in the Indian Armed Forces to Post Quantum Cryptography (PQC). Key thrust areas are Quantum Key Distribution, Quantum Communication, Quantum Computing and Post Quantum Cryptography.


DRDO hands over technology of extreme cold weather clothing to five Indian companies  

Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) Chairman Dr G Satheesh Reddy handed over technology for indigenous extreme cold weather clothing system (ECWS) to 05 Indian companies in New Delhi. Three-layered ECWCS designed to provide thermal insulation between +15° to -50° Celsius

The extreme ECWS is required by the Indian Army for its sustained operations in glacier and Himalayan peaks. The Army, till recently has been importing extreme cold weather clothing and several Special Clothing and Mountaineering Equipment (SCME) items for the troops deployed in high altitude regions.

The ECWCS embodies physiological concepts related to reduction in respiratory heat and water loss, unhindered range of motions and rapid absorption of sweat while providing water proof, wind proof features with adequate breathability and enhanced insulation as well as strength features required for high altitude operations.

Several stakeholders from India and abroad will attend the workshop to understand the opportunities and challenges in bamboo development, explore missing linkages in the entire value-chain of the bamboo sector, and accordingly develop strategies and a roadmap for the sector.

Mohammed Shami becomes fifth Indian fast bowler to take 200 Test wickets. Shami achieved this feat on the third day of the first India-South Africa Test match in Centurion.

Mohammed Shami joins the elusive list along with Kapil Dev, Javagal Srinath, Zaheer Khan and Ishant Sharma. Shami reached the milestone in 55 Test matches and is the third fastest Indian to feature in the list after Kapil and Srinath.

781 cases of Omicron reported in country so far: COVID-19 Updates  

Seven hundred 81 cases of Omicron have been reported in the country so far. Out of the total Omicron cases, Delhi has reported 238 cases, followed by Maharashtra with one hundred sixty-seven, Gujarat 73 cases and Kerala 65 cases.

The Union Health Ministry said, till now, two hundred 41 people have recovered from the infection.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 143.15 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 98.40%

With the administration of 64,61,321 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 143.15 Cr (1,43,15,35,641) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

The recovery of 7,347 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) to 3,42,51,292.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.40%, highest since March 2020. 9,195 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

India’s Active Caseload is presently at 77,002. Active cases constitute 0.22% of the country's total Positive Cases, which is lowest since March 2020.

The Weekly Positivity Rate at 0.68% remains less than 1% for the last 45 days now. The Daily Positivity rate reported to be 0.79%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 2% for the last 86 days and below 3% for 121 consecutive days now.
