12th National Voters’ Day 2022; with theme ‘Making Elections Inclusive, Accessible and Participative’ 

The 12th National Voters’ Day will be celebrated on 25 January 2022. The theme for this year is ‘Making Elections Inclusive, Accessible and Participative’. Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu will be the Chief Guest for the event.

Minister for Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju will be the Guest of Honour. On the occasion, National Awards for the Best Electoral Practises for the year 2021-22 will be conferred on State and District level officers for their outstanding performance in the conduct of elections in different spheres such as IT initiatives, Security Management, Election Management, Accessible Elections and contribution in the field of voter awareness and outreach.

During the function, the newly enrolled voters would also be felicitated and handed over their Elector Photo Identity Card (EPIC). The Commission has recently launched a new initiative to deliver the EPIC to newly enrolled voters, along with a personalised letter and a Voter Guidebook.

Since 2011, National Voters’ Day has been celebrated on 25th January every year, all across the country to mark the foundation day of the Election Commission of India i.e. 25th January 1950.

The main purpose of the NVD celebration is to encourage, facilitate and maximise enrolment, especially for the new voters. Dedicated to the voters of the country, the day is utilized to spread awareness among voters and for promoting informed participation in the electoral process.


Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya launches Revamped CGHS Website and Mobile App “MyCGHS” 

Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare digitally launched the revamped CGHS (Central Government Health Scheme) website (www.cghs.gov.in) and mobile app, “MyCGHS”.

The website has several updated features which shall hugely benefit more than 40 lakhs beneficiaries (both in-service and retired personnel) with real-time information from the convenience of their homes.


NHPC contributes 1 Crore to Chief Minister Relief Fund (CMRF), Himachal Pradesh 

A.K. Singh, CMD, NHPC handed over payment intimation advice of Rupees One Crore to Jai Ram Thakur Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh as NHPC’s contribution towards Chief Minister Relief Fund (CMRF) on 23.01.22 at Shimla (HP).

According to the Himachal Pradesh government this fund is used when natural calamities or tragedy strike the State & is provided to affected residents for immediate relief to minimize the grief & loss of the people. It is also utilized for humanitarian purposes in adverse circumstances.


Indian film Koozhangal wins best film award at Dhaka International Film Festival 

P S Vinothraj directed film Koozhangal from India won the best film award in the Asian Film Competition section at the 20th Dhaka International Film Festival.

The best actor award was given to Jayasurya for Ranjith Sankar-directed film Sunny. The Best Script Writer Award went to Indranil Roychowdhury and Sugata Sinha for Indranil Roychowdhury-directed India-Bangladesh film Mayar Jonjal.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 162.26 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 93.07%

With the administration of more than 27 lakh Doses (27,56,364) vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 162.26 Cr (1,62,26,07,516) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

2,43,495 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 3,68,04,145.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 93.07%. 3,06,064 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

India’s Active Caseload is presently at 22,49,335. Active cases constitute 5.69% of the country's total Positive Cases. The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 17.03% and the Daily Positivity rate also reported to be 20.75%.
