2nd ASEAN Digital Ministers (ADGMIN) meeting with India held in virtual platform
The 2nd ASEAN Digital Ministers (ADGMIN) meeting with India was held on a virtual platform.
Co-chair by
Devusinh Chauhan, Minister of State for Communications (MoSC) and H.E. Admiral Tin Aung San, Ministry of Transport and Communications, Myanmar co-chaired the meeting.
The ADGMIN is an annual meeting of Telecom Ministers of 10 ASEAN (Association of South-East Asian Nations) countries -Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam and dialogue partner countries - Australia, Canada, China, EU, India, Japan, Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Russia, UK and US.
The meeting discussed and deliberated various matters relevant to strengthening regional digital cooperation in the spirit of digital inclusion and integration.
India-ASEAN Digital Work Plan 2022 approved at 2nd ASEAN Digital Ministers (ADGMIN) meeting
The Ministers meeting approved the India-ASEAN Digital Work Plan 2022. The work plan includes system for combating the use of stolen and counterfeit mobile handsets, WiFi Access network interface for nationwide public internet, the capacity building and knowledge sharing in emerging areas in the field of Information and Communication Technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT), 5G, Advanced Satellite Communication, Cyber Forensics, etc.
The ongoing and proposed projects in ICTs, will strengthen collaboration between India and ASEAN by leveraging complementary strengths of each other.
RBI imposes 4 lakh penalty on The Associate Co-operative Bank Surat (Gujarat)
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed a monetary penalty of ₹4.00 lakh (Rupees four lakh only) on The Associate Co-operative Bank Ltd., Surat (Gujarat) (the bank) for contravention of directions issued by RBI on ‘Loans and advances to directors, relatives and firms / concerns in which they are interested’, and non-compliance with the Master Directions on ‘Know Your Customer (KYC)’.
Background
The statutory inspection of the bank conducted by the RBI with reference to the bank’s financial position as on March 31, 2019, the Inspection Report pertaining thereto and examination of all related correspondence revealed, inter alia, that the bank had extended credit facilities to some of its directors and firms of their relatives, and that the bank had failed to undertake ongoing due diligence for effective identification and reporting of suspicious transactions in certain current accounts of its customers, resulting in contravention of aforesaid directions issued by RBI.
RBI imposes 2 lakh penalty on Vasai Janata Sahakari Bank Palghar
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed a monetary penalty of ₹2.00 lakh (Rupees Two lakh only) on Vasai Janata Sahakari Bank Ltd., Dist. Palghar (the bank) for contravention of/non-compliance with the directions issued by RBI on ‘Exposure Norms and Statutory / Other Restrictions – UCBs’.
Background
The inspection report of the bank based on its financial position as on March 31, 2020, revealed that the bank had not adhered to the ceiling on advances to nominal members in certain cases. Based on the same, a notice was issued to the bank advising it to show cause as to why penalty should not be imposed for non-compliance with the aforesaid directions as stated therein.
IREDA and Goa Shipyard signs MoU for Rooftop Solar Power Projects
Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd. (IREDA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) to provide its techno-financial expertise to set-up a rooftop solar power project. The two companies are PSUs under the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy and the Ministry of Defence, respectively.

The MoU was signed by Shri Pradip Kumar Das, Chairman & Managing Director (CMD), IREDA and Cmde. Bharat Bhushan Nagpal, CMD, GSL in the presence of senior officials.
Background
Under the MoU, IREDA will assist GSL to set-up a rooftop solar power project at the headquarter of the company situated in Vasco da Gama, Goa. IREDA will also extend its techno-commercial expertise to GSL for Environmental & Social (E&S) due diligence of rooftop solar and other RE projects as per the internationally accepted E&S standards. After setting up a rooftop solar power project at its building, GSL will be able to bring down the expenditure on electricity and reduce its carbon footprint as well.

Padma Shri awardee educationist Baba Iqbal Singh passed away at Baru Sahib in Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh (HP). He was 95. Shiromani Panth Ratan Baba Iqbal Singh passed away four days after the announcement of Padma Shri awards.

Padma Shri Baba Iqbal Singh was president of Kalgidhar Society/Trust and Chancellor of Eternal University, run under the Baru Sahib Organisation headquartered at Baru Sahib.
After retirement from the post of Director, Himachal Pradesh Agriculture Department, he established Kalgidhar Trust Baru Sahib in the year 1982.
Baba Iqbal Singh started Akal Academy in the year 1986 with only five students in one room. Today the Trust has 129 Akal Academies and two Universities across the country, in which about 70 thousand students are taking education.
India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 165.04 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 93.89%
With the administration of more than 56 lakh Doses (56,72,766) vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 165.04 Cr (165,04,87,260) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.
3,35,939 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 3,83,60,710.
Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 93.89%. 2,35,532 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.
India’s Active Caseload is presently at 20,04,333. Active cases constitute 4.91% of the country's total Positive Cases. The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 16.89% and the Daily Positivity rate also reported to be 13.39%.
