Air Marshal S Prabhakaran assumes charge of Western Air Command (WAC)    

Air Marshal Sreekumar Prabhakaran assumed command of Delhi based Western Air Command (WAC) on 01 March 2022. The Air Officer is a recipient of Vayu Sena Medal and Ati Vishisht Seva Medal.

Air Marshal S Prabhakaran succeeds Air Marshal Amit Dev who superannuated on 28 Feb 22 after more than 39 years of distinguished service in IAF.

About

The Air Marshal is a graduate of National Defence Academy, Pune and was commissioned into the IAF as a fighter pilot on 22 December 1983. He is an alumnus of Defence Services Staff College (DSSC) Wellington and National Defence College, New Delhi. An experienced MiG-21 pilot and a category ‘A’ qualified flying instructor, Air Marshal Prabhakaran has nearly 5000 hours of flying experience.


India Air Force joins 'Operation Ganga' to evacuate Indians from war-hit Ukraine 

The Indian Air Force (IAF) joined 'Operation Ganga' to evacuate Indians from war-hit Ukraine. Indian Air Force's C 17 Globe Master transport aircraft carrying humanitarian assistance left for Romania at 4 AM this morning from Hindan airbase. The aircraft will bring back Indian citizens stranded in Ukraine.


GST Revenue collection for February 2022 crosses 1.30 lakh crore, mark for the 5th time 

Finance Ministry: The gross GST (Goods and Services Tax) revenue collection over 1,33,026 crore in February 2022, GST collection crossed Rs 1.30 lakh crore mark for the 5th time, which is a good sign for the Indian economy.

The gross GST revenue collected in the month of February 2022 is Rs 1,33,026 crore of which CGST is Rs 24,435 crore, SGST is Rs 30,779 crore, IGST is Rs 67,471crore (including Rs 33,837 crore collected on import of goods) and cess is Rs 10,340 crore (including Rs 638 crore collected on import of goods).

Saurabh Chaudhary cliches Gold medal in 10m Air Pistol at International Sports Federation World Cup 

Saurabh Chaudhary has clinched India's first gold medal in 10m Air Pistol at the International Sports Federation World Cup 2022 in Cairo, Egypt.

The 19-year-old Indian defeated Michael Schwald of Germany 16-6 in the gold medal match of the Men's 10m Air Pistol event. Russian Artem Chernousov grabbed a bronze medal.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 177.79 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.60%

With the administration of more than 8 lakh Doses (8,55,862) vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 177.79 Cr (1,77,79,92,977) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

14,123 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,23,38,673.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.60%. 7,554 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

India’s Active Caseload is presently at 85,680. Active cases constitute 0.20% of the country's total Positive Cases. The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 1.06% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 0.96%.
