India signs Bilateral Air Service Agreement with 116 countries    

India has signed a Bilateral Air Service Agreement (ASAs) with 116 foreign countries.

Key Highlights 

Any designated foreign airline can operate to/from a point in India if it is designated as a point of call in the bilateral Air Services Agreement (ASA) signed between India and the country which has designated the airline.

Indian designated carriers are free to mount scheduled operations to/from any international airport, including Kannur International Airport, under the ambit of bilateral ASAs concluded by India with foreign countries.

Currently, due to significant imbalance in the number of points of call in favour of foreign carriers, the Government of India is not granting any non-metro airport as a new point of call to any foreign carrier for the purpose of operating passenger services.


Satyendra Prakash assumes charge as new Principal DG PIB 

Satyendra Prakash assumed charge as Principal Director General of Press Information Bureau (PIB). Prakash is an Officer of the Indian Information Service, Batch of 1988. Prior to this he held the position of Principal DG, Central Bureau of Communication.

GST Revenue collection for July 2022 crosses 1.48 lakh crore, second highest ever 

Finance Ministry: The gross GST (Goods and Services Tax) revenue collection over ₹1,48,995 crore in July 2022, GST collection crossed Rs 1.48 lakh crore second highest ever & 28% higher than the revenues in the same month last year, which is a good sign for the Indian economy.

The gross GST revenue collected in the month of July 2022 is ₹1,48,995 crore of which CGST is ₹ 25,751 crore, SGST is ₹ 32,807 crore, IGST is ₹ 79,518 crore (including ₹ 41,420 crore collected on, import of goods) and cess is ₹ 10,920 crore (including ₹ 995 crore collected on import of goods). This is the second highest revenue since the introduction of GST.

The government has settled ₹ 32,365 crore to CGST and ₹ 26,774 crore to SGST from IGST. The total revenue of Centre and the States in the month of July 2022 after regular settlement is ₹ 58,116 crore for CGST and ₹ 59,581 crore for the SGST.

The revenues for the month of July 2022 are 28% higher than the GST revenues in the same month last year of ₹ 1,16,393 crore. During the month, revenues from import of goods was 48% higher and the revenues from domestic transaction (including import of services) are 22% higher than the revenues from these sources during the same month last year.

For five months in a row now, the monthly GST revenues have been more than ₹ 1.4 lakh crore, showing a steady increase every month. The growth in GST revenue till July 2022 over the same period last year is 35% and displays a very high buoyancy.


Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on 4-day visit to India 

President of Maldives Ibrahim Mohamed Solih arrived in New Delhi today on a four-day visit to India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold bilateral talks with Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on 2nd August. Several agreements are expected to be signed after the talks.

Ibrahim Mohamed Solih is also scheduled to meet President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on 2nd August 2022. External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar will call on the Maldivian President today. Mr. Solih is also scheduled to visit Mumbai on Wednesday.


Indian and French Navies conducts Maritime Partnership Exercise (MPX) in The Atlantic 

INS Tarkash, on her long range overseas deployment, conducted a Maritime Partnership Exercise (MPX) with French Naval Ships in the North Atlantic Ocean on 29 and 30 July 2022.

Key Highlights

Replenishment at sea was exercised between Tarkash and the French Fleet Tanker FNS Somme. This was followed by joint air operations with the maritime surveillance aircraft Falcon 50 participating in multiple simulated missile engagements and air defence drills.

Successful conduct of these surface and aerial exercises symbolise the high degree of professionalism and interoperability that exists between the two navies.


Nitin Gadkari inaugurates and lays foundation stone of six NH projects in Indore MP 

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 6 National Highway projects of 119 Kms worth Rs. 2300 Crore in Indore ,Madhya Pradesh.

During this program MoU was signed between the State Government and NHAI for construction of ropeways at 14 selected places in Madhya Pradesh.

CWG-2022: Achinta Sheuli clinches India's third gold at Birmingham Commonwealth Games 

Commonwealth Games 2022: Weightlifter Achinta Sheuli clinched a gold medal in the men’s 73 kg final at the ongoing Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022.

Achinta Sheuli lifted a total of 313kg to win the gold medal, which includes 143kg in snatch and 170kg in clean and jerk at the Games.

India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 204.34 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.48%

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 204.34 Cr (2,04,34,03,676) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years was started on 16 March, 2022. So far, more than 3.90 Cr (3,90,36,788) adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Similarly, the COVID-19 precaution dose administration for age group 18-59 years also started from 10th April, 2022 onwards.

India’s Active Caseload currently stands at 1,43,989. Active cases now constitute 0.33% of the country's total Positive Cases. 16,464 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.48%. 16,112 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,33,65,890.

The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 4.80% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 6.01%.
