UPI registered records 6 billion transactions in July, highest ever: NPCI 

Unified Payments Interface (UPI) registered records over 6 billion transactions in July 222, the highest ever digital payment since its inception in 2016.

As per the data released by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), UPI registered records 6.28 billion transactions amounting to Rs 10.62 trillion in July.


RBI imposes ₹1 lakh penalty on The Moirang Primary Co-operative Bank Manipur 

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed a monetary penalty of ₹1.00 lakh (Rupees One lakh only) on The Moirang Primary Co-operative Bank Ltd., Moirang (the bank), for non-compliance with Know Your Customer (KYC) directions, 2016 issued by RBI.

Background

A Scrutiny of the bank in the matter of exchange of Specified Bank Notes, revealed, inter alia, non-compliance with above mentioned directions issued by RBI. In furtherance to the same, a notice was issued to the bank advising it to show cause as to why penalty should not be imposed for failure to comply with the directions issued by RBI. 

After considering the bank’s reply to the notice, and examination of additional submissions, RBI concluded that the aforesaid charges of non-compliance with RBI directions warranted imposition of monetary penalty.


RBI imposes ₹50,000 penalty on Mangaldai Nagar Samabai Bank Assam 

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed a monetary penalty of ₹50,000 (Rupees Fifty Thousand only) on Mangaldai Nagar Samabai Bank Limited, Mangaldai (the bank), for non-compliance with Know Your Customer (KYC) directions, 2016 issued by RBI.

President Murmu appoints 9 Judges/Additional Judges of various High Courts 

President of India Ms. Droupadi Murmu appointed as 9 Judges/Additional Judges of various High Courts.

In exercise of the power conferred by clause (l) of Article 217 and clause (1) of Article 224 of the Constitution of India, the President Draupadi Murmu after consultation with the Chief Justice of India, is pleased to appoint Judges/Additional Judges of High Courts as follows:-

Adusumalli Venkata Ravindra Babu, JO, Dr. Vakkalagadda Radha Krishna Krupa Sagar, JO, Bandaru S amsunder, JO and Srinivas Vutukuru, JO appointed as Judges, Andhra Pradesh High Court.

Boppana Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Chakravarthi, JO and Tallapragada Mallikarjuna Rao, JO appointed as additional Judges, Andhra Pradesh High Court.

Duppala Venkata Ramana, JO, Saurabh Srivastava, Advocate and Om Prakash Shukla, Advocate appointed as additional Judges, Allahabad High Court.


Hardeep Singh Puri inaugurates 4th ONGC Para Games 2022 

Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Hardeep Singh Puri inaugurated the fourth ONGC Para Games in Thyagaraj Sports Complex in New Delhi.

Participate by 

275 Persons with Disabilities (PwD) – employees of eight central oil and gas public enterprises - are participating in the 4th ONGC Para Games, being organized by Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) during 2-4 August 2022.

About ONGC Para Games 

ONGC conceptualized and started this Para Games in 2017, to mainstream the specially-abled persons on their rolls. To widen the scope of the games, ONGC roped in athletes from IOCL, BPCL, HPCL, EIL, OIL and GAIL to be part of the grand 3rd edition of ONGC Para Games at Gandhinagar. In this current 4th edition, apart from the 192 ONGCians, seven other Public enterprises are participating viz. IOCL (21), GAIL (15), BPCL (13), MRPL (11), EIL (9), OIL (8) and HPCL (6).


CWG 2022: Indian Judo star Shushila wins silver medal and Vijay Kumar clinches bronze 

Commonwealth Games 2022: Judoka Shushila Devi Likmabam won the silver medal in the women’s 48kg category at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games (CWG 2022). On the other hand, Judo star Vijay Kumar Yadav clinched bronze in the men 60 kg category. 

India’s medal tally reaches to 8 with 3 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze medals.

CWG 2022: Weightlifter Harjinder Kaur clinches bronze at Birmingham Commonwealth Games 

Commonwealth Games 2022: Weightlifter Harjinder Kaur won the bronze medal in the women’s 71kg event at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games (CWG 2022).

India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 204.60 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.49%

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 204.60 Cr (2,04,60,81,081) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years was started on 16 March, 2022. So far, more than 3.91 Cr (3,91,03,881) adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Similarly, the COVID-19 precaution dose administration for age group 18-59 years also started from 10th April, 2022 onwards.

India’s Active Caseload currently stands at 1,39,792. Active cases now constitute 0.32% of the country's total Positive Cases. 13,734 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.49%. 17,897 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,33,83,787.

The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 4.79% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 3.34%.
