9th Session of India Russia Working Group on Modernization & Industrial Cooperation held in New Delhi

The 9th Session of the India Russia Working Group on Modernization & Industrial Cooperation of the India-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation was held on December 23, 2022 in New Delhi.

Key Highlights

The India-Russia working group meeting was held as a part of a series of meetings between the two countries under the India Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological Cooperation mechanism.

The India-Russia Working Group reviewed the results of the eighth session of the working group in the focus sub-groups identified, namely modernization, mining and mineral fertilizers & chemicals.

The two sides highlighted the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries and reiterated their commitment to deepen and strengthen mutual cooperation in several areas. This visit was an opportunity to consolidate the partnership between India and Russia.

RBI imposes ₹50 lakh penalty on Bassein Catholic Co-operative Bank

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed a monetary penalty of ₹50.00 lakh (Rupees fifty lakh only) on Bassein Catholic Co-operative Bank Ltd., Vasai, Maharashtra for non-compliance with the directions issued by RBI on ‘Income Recognition, Asset Classification, Provisioning and Other Related Matters’ (IRAC norms).

Cabinet approves Minimum Support prices for copra for 2023 season

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved Minimum Support Prices (MSPs) for copra for 2023 season. The approval is based on recommendations of the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices and views of major coconut growing states.

Key Highlights

The MSP for Fair Average Quality of milling copra has been fixed at Rs. 10860/- per quintal and for ball copra at Rs. 11750/- per quintal for 2023 season. This is an increase of Rs. 270/- per quintal for milling copra and Rs. 750/- per quintal for ball copra over the previous season. This would ensure a margin of 51.82 percent for milling copra and 64.26 percent for ball copra over the all India weighted average cost of production.

The announced MSP of copra for 2023 season is in line with the principle of fixing the MSP at a level of at least 1.5 times all India weighted average cost of production as announced by the Government in the Budget 2018-19.
