India - Maldives hold 4th Defence Cooperation Dialogue in Male

India and the Maldives conducted the 4th Defence Cooperation Dialogue (DCD) in Male on March 19, 2023. The dialogue was co-chaired by Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane and his Maldivian counterpart, Chief of Defence Force, Maldives National Defence Forces Major General Abdulla Shamaal.

4th India and Maldives Defence Cooperation Dialogue (DCD): Key Highlights

This Defence Cooperation Dialogue (DCD) is the highest institutionalised interactive mechanism between the two countries. Its significance in chartering the future course of relations between both the Armed Forces was highlighted by the importance given to the talks by the two nations.

During the interaction, ongoing bilateral defence cooperation activities were reviewed and both sides expressed satisfaction at the increasing engagements. The talks covered the existing bilateral exercises, with both countries agreeing to increase the complexity of these drills.

The Armed Forces of India & the Maldives continue to seek bilateral cooperation in multiple fields and the increased engagements are a positive sign for the future of bilateral relations.

Giridhar Aramane thanked Major General Abdulla Shamaal and his delegation for a fruitful dialogue and stated that India looks forward to continued engagement based on the common understanding reached at the 4th DCD.

First Labour 20 meeting begins in Amritsar, Punjab

Sri Lanka’s Seylan Bank has opened an Indian rupee denominated Nostro account in Indian Bank in Mumbai.

The arrangement will help settle cross-border transactions using Indian rupee between the two nations. In a statement, the Sri Lankan bank said the initiative will enable local customers to enter into transactions denominated in Indian rupee, eliminating the need to conduct Trade and Remittance transactions in US dollars.

CBSE adopts National Curriculum Framework for Foundational Stage - 2022

CBSE adopts National Curriculum Framework for Foundational Stage (NCFFS-2022) and the new structure of five-year education at foundational stage from Nursery to class Two will be introduced in the session 2023-24 in those CBSE schools which offer education at foundational stage to the students in the age group of 3-8 years.

CBSE has advised schools offering foundational or preparatory education to adhere to the recommendations regarding curriculum, pedagogy, assessment and other areas described in the NCFFS-2022.

4th Asian Kho Kho Championship for Men and Women to be held in Assam from 20-23 March

The 4th Asian Kho Kho Championship for Men and Women will be held at Baksa district in Assam from 20th to 23rd March 2023.

The event is being organised by the Kho Kho Federation of India in association with the Assam Kho Kho Association and Bodoland Territorial Region government.
