The third edition of India and Malaysia Bilateral Maritime Exercise Samudra Laksamana 2024 was held off Visakhapatnam from 28 February - 02 March 2024.

India - Malaysia Exercise Samudra Laksamana 2024

Indian Naval Ship Kiltan and Royal Malaysian Ship KD Lekir are participating in the 3rd edition of India - Malaysia Exercise Samudra Laksamana 2024 which has harbour professional interactions followed by the operational phase at sea.

The military contingents of both the countries held various professional interactions, subject expert exchanges on topics of mutual interest, sports events and other interactions.

These interactions are aimed to enhance knowledge base, share best practices and further cooperation on maritime aspects.

Aims

India - Malaysia Exercise Samudra Laksamana aims to strengthen bonds and enhance interoperability between the Indian and Royal Malaysian Navy.

India - Malaysia Relations

India established diplomatic relations with the Federation of Malaya (predecessor state of Malaysia) in 1957. India is represented in Malaysia through the High Commission of India based in Kuala Lumpur. Whereas Malaysia is represented in India through their High Commission which is located in New Delhi and Consulates General in Mumbai and Chennai.

India's major exports items to Malaysia are mineral fuels, mineral oils; aluminum and articles thereof, meat and edible meat offal, iron and steel, copper and articles thereof, organic chemicals, nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; electrical machinery and equipment; etc.

India's import from Malaysia

India's major import items from Malaysia are palm oil, mineral fuels, mineral oils, electrical machinery and equipment; animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products; nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; copper and articles thereof, wood; wood charcoal, aluminum, organic chemicals, iron and steel and miscellaneous chemical products.
