Lok Sabha Speakers list: Prime Minister Narendra Modi moved a motion to elect BJP MP Om Birla as Speaker of the Lok Sabha. After this, the name of K. Suresh was proposed by the opposition India Block.
Kodikunnil Suresh is an eighth-term parliamentarian from Kerala’s Mavelikara.
Om Birla was elected Speaker of the Lok Sabha by voice vote. With this, Birla has been elected Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament for the second consecutive time.
