IAS officer Tarun Kumar Pithode has taken charge as the new full-time Member Secretary of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) in National Capital Region (NCR) and Adjoining Areas with effect from 23rd October 2025. Pithode has replaced Arvind Kumar Nautiyal, Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME 1992) in this important position. Tarun Kumar's tenure as Member Secretary of CAQM will be for five years or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Tarun Kumar Pithode Appointed As New full-time Member Secretary of CAQM
IAS officer Tarun Kumar Pithode has been appointed as the new full-time Member Secretary of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) in National Capital Region (NCR) and Adjoining Areas.
Pithode has replaced Arvind Kumar Nautiyal, Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME 1992) in this important position.
Tarun Kumar Pithode took over the appointment of new full-time Member Secretary of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) at New Delhi with effect from 23rd October 2025.
Tenure of Tarun Kumar Pithode
Tarun Kumar Pithode has been appointed full-time Member Secretary of CAQM for an overall tenure of five years upto 8th September 2029 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
About IAS Tarun Kumar Pithode
Tarun Kumar Pithode is a 2009 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre.
Pithode is currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and has now taken over the role of Member-Secretary of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM).
Before assuming the charge of Joint Secretary, Pithode served as Director in Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Government of India.
About Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM)
In August 2021, the government established the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) as a single agency to manage air quality in Delhi National Capital Region (NCR).
