Senior IAS officer Rajesh Verma has been appointed as the new full-time Chairperson of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) in the National Capital Region (NCR) and Adjoining Areas. Verma has been appointed for a period of three years from the date of assumption of charge, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Rajesh Verma takes over as Chairperson, CAQM
Odisha Cadre IAS officer Rajesh Verma has taken charge as the new full-time Chairperson of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) in NCR and Adjoining Areas.
Rajesh Verma took over the appointment of Chairman, Commission for Air Quality Management at New Delhi with effect from 09 Sep 2024.
Verma has been appointed as Chairman CAQM for a term of three years from the date of assuming charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Rajesh Verma succeeds Dr. M.M. Kutty, who has successfully completed his tenure as the full-time Chairperson of CAQM after leading the Commission for three years.
About Rajesh Verma Chairperson, CAQM
Rajesh Verma is an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of 1987 batch of Odisha Cadre.
Verma has extensive experience of working in different departments of the Central and State Governments including President’s Secretariat, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Power, Rural Electrification Corporation Ltd. (REC), New Delhi, Departments of Education, Steel & Mines, Agriculture and Energy under Government of Odisha, Industrial Development Corporations under Government of Odisha and Government of Rajasthan.

IAS Rajesh Verma also served as the Secretary to the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu prior to his superannuation on August 31, 2024.
Commission for Air Quality Management
The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has been set up for Air Quality Management in National Capital Region and Adjoining Areas for better co-ordination, research, identification and resolution of problems surrounding the air quality index and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
