Harsh Vardhan co-chairs 1st Joint Committee Meeting under 2nd Memorandum of Cooperation signed on healthcare, in Tokyo

Dr Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare co-chaired the 1st Joint Committee Meeting (JCM) in Tokyo along with Dr. Hiroto Izumi, Special Advisor to Prime Minister under the 2nd Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) signed on Healthcare and Wellness in October 2018 during the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Japan in context of Ayushman Bharat of India and Asia Health and Well-Being Initiative (AHWIN) of Japan.

The Joint Committee reviewed the status of ongoing activities under the MOC and noted with satisfaction the progress on these activities which are meant to promote mutual benefit for the people of both the countries.


Japan presented specific projects between public/private agencies of both countries in the area of healthcare logistics, utilization of ICT in tertiary hospital care for improving the efficiency of energy use and medical care operations, human resource exchange in the field of emergency medical care and trauma care and establishment of healthcare innovation network between India and Japan. No charges on digital payments made to large business establishments from 1 Nov

In a move that may boost digital payments, the government said banks or system providers will not impose charges or Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) on customers as well as merchants on digital payments made to establishments having turnover in excess of Rs 50 crore from November 1.

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has invited applications from banks and payment system providers who are willing that their payment systems may be used for the purpose as the government plans to prescribe certain electronic modes of payment.


Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Union Budget said that business establishments with annual turnover of more than ₹50 crore will have to offer low cost digital modes payments to customers and not impose charges or MDR on customers and merchants........Read More


PM Narendra Modi releases cultural videos marking Gandhi 150

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, released four cultural videos marking the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. In an event organized at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, New Delhi.

The event was attended by the members of the Indian film and entertainment industry including Aamir Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Rajkumar Hirani, Kangana Ranaut, Anand L Rai, S. P. Balasubrahmanyam, Sonam Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Sonu Nigam, Ekta Kapoor, members of Tarak Mehta group, ETV group.

Prime Minister urged the film and entertainment industry to channelize its energy to make entertaining, inspiring creatives that can motivate the ordinary citizens. He reminded them of their immense potential and their ability to bring about positive transformation in the society.

Noted film director Rajkumar Hirani pointed out that the video released today is one of many coming out with the theme of ‘Change Within’. He thanked the Prime Minister for his contstant inspiration, guidance and support.

Former anti-corruption body head KV Chowdary joins Reliance board

Former anti-corruption body head and the first tax department chief under the Modi government K V Chowdary has joined the board of India's most valuable company Reliance Industries as an independent director.

KV Chowdary a 1978-batch Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer, Chowdary was in August 2014 appointed as chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), the top policy making body of the income tax department.


Bharti Airtel To Acquire 26% Stake In Clean Energy Firm AMPSolar

Telecom operator Bharti Airtel Ltd. has signed a pact with AMPSolar Evolution to acquire 26 percent stake in the solar power firm for Rs 8.4 crore.

Sunil Bharti Mittal-led firm has signed an agreement with the renewable energy company to meet the green energy needs and optimise energy costs, as well as to comply with the regulatory requirement around consumption of electricity.
