1. Envoys of Seven Nations Present Credentials to President Ram Nath Kovind  through Video Conferencing: Highlights with Details 
  • The President of India Ram Nath Kovind accepted credentials from Ambassadors and High Commissioners of Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Senegal, Trinidad & Tobago, Mauritius, Australia, Cote d’Ivoire and Rwanda through video conference.
  • This was the first time in the history of Rashtrapati Bhavan that credentials were presented through the digital medium. The President remarked that digital technology has enabled the world to overcome the challenges posed by COVID-19 and carry out its functions in an innovative manner.


2. CCI approves acquisition of Emami Cement Limited by Nuvoco Vistas Corporation Limited
  • The Competition Commission of India (CCI) approves acquisition of 100% of the total issued and paid up share capital of Emami Cement Limited, on a fully diluted basis, by Nuvoco Vistas Corporation Limited
  • The proposed combination pertains to the acquisition of 100% of the total issued and paid up share capital of Emami Cement Limited (“ECL”), on a fully diluted basis by Nuvoco Vistas Corporation Limited (“NVCL”).


3. 1 Crore Treatments Provided Under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana
  • Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), the flagship health assurance scheme of the Government of India today marked 1 crore treatments. To mark this milestone, Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare inaugurated the first edition of Arogya Dhara, a series of webinars created as an open platform for discussion on topical issues of public health in New Delhi. 
  • The webinar is titled “Ayushman Bharat: 1 crore treatments and beyond”. Shri Ashwini Kumar Choubey, MoS (HFW) was also present during the webinar.

  • The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi will be visiting West Bengal and Odisha today to take stock of the situation in the wake of Cyclone Amphan.


5. 82 UG and 42 PG Non-Engineering MOOCs to be offered in the July 2020, Semester on SWAYAM: HRD Minister
  • Union Human Resource Development Minister Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' informed that the Students enrolled in Universities and affiliated colleges may undertake SWAYAM courses and avail credits by completing these courses as per University Grants Commission (UGC)’s present regulations on credit framework for online learning courses.
  • HRD Minister Nishank further informed that UGC has shared a list of 82 Under Graduate & 42 Post Graduate Non-Engineering MOOCs courses with University Vice Chancellors and College Principals, which will be offered in July Semester 2020 on SWAYAM Platform(swayam.gov.in).


6. Indian Railways re-opening of reservation counters & booking through Common Service Centers (CSCs) and Agents
  • Indian Railways is going to open reservation counters for booking of reserved tickets in a phased manner.
  • Zonal Railways have been instructed to decide and notify opening of reservation counters as per local needs and conditions. These reservation counters will open from tomorrow in a phased manner, along with dissemination of information about their respective locations and timings as per the local needs and conditions.
  • Indian Railways has also allowed booking of Reservation Tickets through the Common Service Centers and Ticketing agents
