Social activist Pushpa Bhave passes away at 81 in Mumbai

Social activist Pushpa Bhave passed away in Mumbai following a prolonged illness. She was 81.

She has been associated with the Rashtra Seva Dal and democratic movements since her student days. She was also an academician and an intellectual, who fought for the rights of common citizens.

Bhave took part in the United Maharashtra Movement and the Goa Liberation Movement.

During the emergency she offered his house for shelter to underground political activist. Bhave had raised his voice against the nexus between builders and leaders after the death of Dadar resident Ramesh Kinney in suspicious circumstances in the 1990s and demanded an inquiry.
