Ministry of Rural Development signs MoU with Flipkart : Flipkart, India’s homegrown e-commerce marketplace, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Rural Development of the Government of India (MoRD), for their ambitious Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY-NRLM) program, to help empower local businesses and self-help groups (SHGs) – especially those that are led by women – by bringing them into the e-commerce fold.

SBI ex-chief Pratip Chaudhuri arrested in loan scam  

The Rajasthan Police arrested former State Bank of India (SBI) chairman Pratip Choudhary in Delhi in connection with an alleged loan scam, after his arrest, he was sent to judicial custody for 14 days.

Pratip Choudhary has been charged with allegedly selling a non-performing asset (NPA) -Hotel Gaudavan—to Alchemist ARC as undervalued.

CCI approves acquisition by HDFC Life Insurance of 100% shareholding in Exide Life Insurance Ltd 

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) approves acquisition by HDFC Life Insurance Company (Acquirer) of 100% shareholding in Exide Life Insurance Company Limited (Target) under Section 31(1) of the Competition Act, 2002.

The Proposed Combination involves acquisition of fully paid-up equity shares, representing 100% of Target by the Acquirer from Exide Industries Limited. After completion of the share acquisition, Exide Life (which will be a wholly owned subsidiary of HDFC Life) is proposed to be merged with HDFC Life.

The Acquirer is a life insurance company registered with the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (the IRDAI). It offers a range of individual and group life insurance solutions including participating, non-participating and unit linked insurance products. Its product portfolio comprises of various life insurance and investment products such as protection, pension, savings, investment, and annuity. HDFC Life has two wholly owned subsidiaries, namely, HDFC Pension Management Company Limited and HDFC International Life and Re Company Limited.

Target is a registered life insurance company with the IRDAI. It offers various individual and group life insurance products including protection plans (term insurance, child insurance plans), savings and investment plans (including ULIPs), retirement and pension plans. It does not have any subsidiaries.


UPI registers record 4.21 billion transactions worth Rs 7.71 trn in October 2021 

The Unified Payments Interface, or UPI, as it is popularly known, recorded 4.21 billion transactions in October, a new all-time high for the payments platform since its inception, driven by the festive season.

In value terms, the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) platform saw transactions worth Rs 7.71 trillion hit a record high in October.

Jyotiraditya M. Scindia inaugurates first direct flight on Bhopal – Raipur route   

Union Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya M. Scindia flagged off the first direct flight of Indigo airlines on Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) – Raipur (Chhattisgarh) route.

Earlier due to non-availability of the direct flights, people had to travel for more than 12 hours to travel between the two cities. This new route will not only enhance regional connectivity but will also promote trade, commerce and tourism between these cities.


Jyotiraditya M. Scindia inaugurates first direct flight between Bhubaneswar – Jaipur  

Union Minister of Civil Aviation Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia flagged off the first direct flight of Indigo airlines between Bhubaneswar (Orissa) – Jaipur (Rajasthan).

With the new flights on the route, the people of Bhubaneswar and its adjoining areas will get is direct air connectivity between Bhubaneswar and Jaipur, which will facilitate seamless movement of passengers. With these new flights between Bhubaneswar to Jaipur, tourists/ travelers will get multiple options for air connectivity which will boost the tourism potential and increase the economic activity of the region.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 106.85 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 98.21%

With the administration of 52,39,444 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 106.85 Cr (1,06,85,71,879) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

The recovery of 15,021patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of  recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) to 3,36,83,581.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.21%. 10,423 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

The Active Caseload is presently at 1,53,776 is lowest in 250 days. Active cases presently constitute 0.45% of the country's total Positive Cases, which is lowest since March 2020.

The Weekly Positivity Rate at 1.16% remains less than 2% for the last 39 days now. The Daily Positivity rate reported to be 1.03%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 2% for the last 29 days and below 3% for 64 consecutive days now.
