INDIA, KFW sign Euro 442.26 million loan agreement for Surat Metro Project
The Government of India and the Germany Development Bank – KFW (Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau) signed a Euro 442.26 million loan agreement for Surat Metro Rail project.
The total cost of the project is Euro 1.50 billion, out of which KfW is financing Euro 442.26 million. The project is being co-financed by French Development Agency, AFD (Agence Française de Développemet). The Agreement with AFD for Euro 250 million was signed on 28.01.2021.

3rd edition of India France Defence Dialogue held in New Delhi
The 3rd edition of India France Defence Dialogue 2021 was held in New Delhi on 17th December.
The third Annual Defence Dialogue between India and France took place between Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh and French Minister for Armed Forces Ms Florence Parly in New Delhi. A wide range of bilateral, regional, defence and defence industrial cooperation issues were discussed in the annual meeting.
They discussed ways to increase defence cooperation in all domains. India and France have recently concluded their annual bilateral Army Exercise, Shakti, with focus on counter-terrorist operations, in France in November 2021. Defence industrial cooperation was discussed with focus on future collaborations and co-production between the two countries.

PM Modi participate in Goa Liberation Day celebrations
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Goa on 19th December and attend the function marking Goa Liberation Day celebrations.
Prime Minister Modi will facilitate the freedom fighters and veterans of ‘Operation Vijay’ at the function. Goa Liberation Day is celebrated on December 19 every year to mark the success of ‘Operation Vijay’ undertaken by the Indian Armed Forces that liberated Goa from Portuguese rule.
Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate multiple development projects including the renovated Fort Aguada Jail Museum, Super Speciality Block at Goa Medical College, New South Goa District Hospital, Aviation Skill Development Center at Mopa Airport and the Gas insulated Substation at Dabolim-Navelim, Margao. India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 136.66 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 98.38%
With the administration of 62,06,244 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 136.66 Cr (1,36,66,05,173) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.
The recovery of 8,706 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) to 3,41,71,471.
Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.38%, highest since March 2020. 7,145 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.
India’s Active Caseload is presently at 84,565. This is lowest in 569 days. Active cases constitute 0.24% of the country's total Positive Cases, which is lowest since March 2020.
The Weekly Positivity Rate at 0.62% remains less than 1% for the last 34 days now. The Daily Positivity rate reported to be 0.57%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 2% for last 75 days and below 3% for 110 consecutive days now.
