1. India, UK Launch Free Trade Agreement (FTA) Negotiations 
  • India and the UK have formally launched negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement between two countries. Joint Statement of Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and UK Secretary of State for International Trade Anne-Marie Trevelyan said, the Free Trade Agreement would be a substantial opportunity for both economies and a significant moment in the bilateral relationship.

2. India, China bilateral trade crossed 125 billion USD in 2021
  • India and China bilateral trade crossed 125 billion USD in 2021, according to Chinese customs data released on 14th January 2022. 
  • Despite a protracted border standoff, Two-way trade between India and China in 2021 stood at 125.66 billion USD, up 43.3% from 2020 when bilateral trade was worth 87.6 billion USD.

  • Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 95.20%. 2,64,202 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.
