1. HDFC to merge with HDFC Bank announced
  • HDFC Limited will merge with HDFC Bank. The merger is set to make the company the third most valuable in the country.
  • HDFC will acquire a 41 percent stake in HDFC Bank through the transformational merger. HDFC Limited Chairman Deepak Parekh has described it as a merger of equals.


2. Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal begins 3-day visit to Australia
  • Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Textiles Piyush Goyal left New Delhi on a 3-day visit to Australia. His visit comes days after India and Australia signed the Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (Ind-Aus ECTA) on Saturday, 2nd April.

9. India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 185.04 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.76%
  • India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 185.04 Cr (1,85,04,11,569) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.
  • COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years was started on 16 March, 2022. So far, more than 1.98 Cr (1,98,31,257) adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
  • India’s Active Caseload declines to today 11,871 Active cases now constitute 0.03% of the country's total Positive Cases.
  • Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.76%. 1,086 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.
