India-Australia Joint Exercise AUSTRA HIND 2022 to be held in Rajasthan from 28 Nov to 11 Dec

Indian Army and the Australian Army bilateral training exercise AUSTRA HIND 22 will be held at Mahajan Field Firing Ranges (Rajasthan) from 28 November to 11 December 2022. This is the first exercise in the series of AUSTRA HIND with participation of all arms and services contingent from both armies.

India-Australia Joint Exercise AUSTRA HIND 22: Participate by

The Australian Army contingent comprising soldiers from the 13th Brigade of the 2nd Division has arrived at the exercise location. The Indian Army is represented by troops from the DOGRA Regiment. Exercise “AUSTRA HIND” will be a yearly event that will be conducted alternatively in India and Australia.

VP Jagdeep Dhankhar to confer Shilp Guru and National Awards to the Master Craftspersons

The Union Ministry of Textiles will be organizing Shilp Guru and National Awards to master craftspersons for the year 2017, 2018 and 2019 on Monday, 28th November 2022.

Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar will be the Chief Guest of the award ceremony.

Background

The Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts) has been implementing the scheme of National Awards for master craftspersons since 1965 and Shilp Guru Awards was introduced in 2002. These Awards are conferred every year to legendary master craftspersons of handicrafts whose work and dedication have contributed not only to the preservation of rich and diverse craft heritage of the country but also to the resurgence of the handicraft sector as a whole.

Objective

The main objective is to give recognition to outstanding craftspersons in the handicrafts sector. The awardees represent almost all states and UTs of the country, as well as different craft styles of different locations.

French Minister of Armed Forces visits Indigenous Aircraft Carrier INS Vikrant

A French high level delegation led by Mr Sébastien Lecornu, French Minister of Armed Forces visited the Indigenous Aircraft Carrier INS Vikrant.

The delegation interacted with Vice Admiral MA Hampiholi Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command onboard Vikrant.
