Lula da Silva sworn in as new President of Brazil   

Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva took office for a third term as Brazil's president. Lula has replaced former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro. Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has been elected as the new president of Brazil. Lula da Silva defeated incumbent president Jair Bolsonaro in a close contest.  

Lula da Silva secured 50.83 percent of the votes, whereas his opponent Jair Bolsonaro managed to get 49.17 percent votes.


MeitY releases Draft amendments to the IT (Intermediary Guidelines & Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology today released draft amendments to the IT intermediary rules 2021, pertaining to Online Gaming for public consultations.

The draft has been prepared to ensure that online games should be offered in conformity with Indian laws and that the users of such games be safeguarded against potential harm.

Key Highlights 

As per the Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar the draft has proposed a self-regulatory mechanism which, in future, may also regulate the content of online gaming and ensure that the games do not have violent, addictive or sexual content.

As of now, the age gating is 18 years and we would like to keep it that way and see if the present framework works to expand the innovation ecosystem around online gaming while keeping it safe & trusted for gamers.


Sri Siddheshwara Swami passes away at 81 

Saint Siddheshwar Swami of Jananyogashram passed away due to suffering from age-related ailments for some time now. He was 81. Siddheshwar Swami came into limelight 5 years ago when he turned down the Padma Shri award.


Railways earns Rs 120478 Crores from Freight loading this FY till December 2022 

Railways have earned Rs 120478 crore against Rs 104040 crore over last year which is an improvement of 16% as compared to the same period of last year.

During the month of December 22, Originating freight loading of 130.66 MT has been achieved against loading of 126.8 MT in Dec. 21, which is an improvement of 3 % over last year. Freight revenue of Rs. 14573 crore have been achieved against Rs 12914 crore freight earnings in December 21, thereby an improvement of 13% over last year.


Railways Revenue Earnings up by 71% in Passenger Segment

The total approximate earnings in passenger segment for Indian Railways on originating basis during April to December 2022 is Rs. 48913 Crore, registering an increase of 71 per cent in comparison to Rs. 28569 Crore achieved during the same period last year.
