PM Modi inaugurates 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2023 Convention in Indore   

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention in Indore, Madhya Pradesh on 9th January 2023. PM Modi released a commemorative postal stamp ‘Surakshit Jaayen, Prashikshit Jaayen’ and also inaugurated the first-ever digital PBD Exhibition on the theme ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav - Contribution of Diaspora in Indian Freedom Struggle’.

Theme of 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2023

The theme of this 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2023 Convention is ‘Diaspora: Reliable partners for India’s progress in Amrit Kaal’. Over 3,500 diaspora members from nearly 70 different countries have registered for the PBD Convention.

17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2023: Background

Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention is the flagship event of the Government of India that provides an important platform to engage and connect with overseas Indians and to enable the diaspora to interact with each other. 

The 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention is being organised in partnership with the Madhya Pradesh Government from 08-10 January 2023 in Indore. The theme of this PBD Convention is "Diaspora: Reliable partners for India’s progress in Amrit Kaal”. Over 3,500 diaspora members from nearly 70 different countries have registered for the PBD Convention.


Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh chairs Ambassadors’ Roundtable conference for Aero India 2023 

Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh chaired, in New Delhi on January 09, 2023, the Ambassadors’ Roundtable conference for the forthcoming Aero India 2023. 

The reach-out event, organised by the Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence, was attended by Ambassadors, High Commissioners, Chargé d'affaires and Defence Attachés of over 80 countries.

The Raksha Mantri invited the representatives from across the world to attend Asia’s largest and 14th Aero show - Aero India-2023 - which will be held in Bengaluru, Karnataka between February 13-17, 2023.


VP Jagdeep Dhankhar to inaugurate 83rd All India Presiding Officers’ Conference 

The Vice President & Rajya Sabha Chairman, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar will address the inaugural session of the 83rd All India Presiding Officers’ Conference in Jaipur on 11th January, 2023.

The All India Presiding Officers’ Conference (AIPOC) is the apex body of the Legislatures in India that completed its hundred years in 2021. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the inaugural session of the 82nd AIPOC in 2021 in Shimla. The first Conference was also held in Shimla in 1921.

This is the fourth time that the Conference is being organized in the city of Jaipur.


Jitendra Singh unveils the theme for National Science Day 2023, titled Global Science for Global Wellbeing

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology Dr Jitendra Singh released the theme for the "National Science Day 2023", titled "Global Science for Global Wellbeing" at National Media Centre in New Delhi.

Background

The National Science Day (NSD) is celebrated every year on 28 February to commemorate the discovery of the ‘Raman Effect’. Government of India designated 28 February as National Science Day (NSD) in 1986. On this day Sir C.V. Raman announced the discovery of the 'Raman Effect' for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1930. On this occasion, theme-based science communication activities are carried out all over the country.
