RBI and Central Bank of UAE sign MoU to promote innovation in financial products and services   

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the Central Bank of the UAE sign MoU to promote innovation in financial products and services.

The Reserve Bank of India and the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday to promote innovation in financial products and services.

Key Highlights  

Under the MoU, the two central banks will collaborate on various emerging areas of FinTech, especially Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) and explore interoperability between the CBDCs of CBUAE and RBI. CBUAE and RBI will jointly conduct proof-of-concept (PoC) and pilot(s) of bilateral CBDC bridge to facilitate cross-border CBDC transactions of remittances and trade.....Read More


PM Modi and PM Hasina to inaugurate India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline on 18 Mar 2023 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline on 18 March 2023 via video-conference.

India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline 

This is the first cross border energy pipeline between India and Bangladesh, built at an estimated cost of INR 377 crore, of which the Bangladesh portion of the pipeline built at a cost of approx. INR 285 crore, has been borne by the Government of India under grant assistance.

The Pipeline has a capacity to transport 1 Million Metric Ton Per Annum (MMTPA) of High-Speed Diesel (HSD). It will supply High Speed Diesel initially to seven districts in northern Bangladesh.

The operation of India- Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline will put in place a sustainable, reliable, cost-effective and environment friendly mode of transporting HSD from India to Bangladesh and will further enhance cooperation in energy security between the two countries.


PM Modi to inaugurate the Global Millets (Shree Anna) Conference on 18th March 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Global Millets (Shree Anna) Conference in New Delhi on 18th March, 2023. Based on India’s proposal, the year 2023 was declared as the International Year of Millets (IYM) by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

The two-day global conference will have sessions on all important issues related to millets (Shree Anna) like promotion and awareness of millets among producers, consumers and other stakeholders; millets’ value chain development; health and nutritional aspects of millets; market linkages; research and development etc.

The conference will be attended by Agriculture Ministers of various countries, international scientists, nutritionists, health experts, start-up leaders and other stakeholders.


3rd edition of Multilateral Exercise La Perouse 2023 

Indian Navy’s indigenously built guided missile frigate, INS Sahyadri and fleet tanker, INS Jyoti participated in the third edition of the multilateral exercise La Perouse conducted from 13 - 14 March 2023.

Exercise La Perouse 2023: Key Highlights 

The exercise was conducted in the Indian Ocean Region, and was aimed at enhancing maritime domain awareness and optimising maritime coordination amongst the participating navies in the Indo-Pacific Region.

In addition to Indian Naval ships, the exercise witnessed participation of HMAS Perth from the Royal Australian Navy, FS Dixmude and FS La Fayette from the French Navy, JMSDF ship Suzutsuki from Japanese Maritime Self Defence Force along with Type SH 60 J Helicopter, HMS Tamar from the Royal Navy and USS Charleston the the United States Navy.


3rd edition of Exercise Sea Dragon 23 to be held from from 15-30 March 

A P8I aircraft of the Indian Navy arrived at Guam, USA on 14 March 2023 to participate in ‘Exercise Sea Dragon 23’, the third edition of the coordinated multi-lateral Anti-submarine warfare (ASW) exercise for Long Range MR ASW aircraft, conducted by the US Navy.

The exercise scheduled from 15-30 Mar 23, would stress on coordinated anti-submarine warfare amongst the participating countries. The complexity and scope of these exercises has increased steadily over the past years to include advanced ASW drills.

Exercise Sea Dragon 2023: Key Highlights  

Ex Sea Dragon 23 will test the capabilities of participating aircraft in tracking simulated and live underwater targets, whilst also sharing mutual expertise. The Exercise would witness representation by an Indian Navy P8I, along with P8A of the US Navy, P1 from the Japanese Maritime Self Defence Force, CP 140 from the Royal Canadian Air Force and P3C from the Republic of Korea Navy.

The Exercise aims to achieve high levels of synergy and coordination between the friendly navies, which is based on their shared values and commitment to an open, inclusive Indo-Pacific.


Ministry of Steel to sign MoU with selected companies under PLI scheme 

The Ministry of Steel is organising an event on March 17, 2023 (today) at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi to sign MoUs with selected companies under PLI scheme for specialty steel. 57 MoUs from 27 companies covering 20 sub-categories will be signed during the event.


Ministry of Ayush and Ministry of Rural Development signs MoU for skilling of rural youth and empowering women  

Ministry of Ayush and Ministry of Rural development signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate in developing skilled personnel by imparting training to rural poor youth and women’s for Ayush healthcare system under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya-Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY).

Apart from this a course for training of rural youth as panchakarma technicians/assistant will be started on pilot basis. The MoU valid for three years.

Deen Dayal Upadhyaya-Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) is the flagship program of the Ministry of Rural Development, GoI. As a part of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), DDU-GKY aims to transform rural poor youth into economically independent and globally relevant workforce.


WDRA and PNB sign MoU to facilitate finance against e-NWRs

To facilitate farmers and traders in providing low interest rate loans, Warehousing Development Regulatory Authority (WDRA) exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Punjab National Bank (PNB).

The MoU was signed with the intent of promoting awareness about finance against e-NWRs (electronic Negotiable Warehouse Receipt) with features such as, no additional collateral and attractive interest rates.

The MoU is aimed at providing information to depositors of the benefits, besides doing further outreach activities to improve agricultural pledge finance in India.


President Droupadi Murmu appoints five new judges to Gujarat High Court 

President Droupadi Murmu appoints five new judges to Gujarat High Court: In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint (i) Ms. Susan Valentine Pinto, S/Shri (ii) Hasmukhbhai Dalsukhbhai Suthar, (iii) Jitendra Champaklal Doshi, (iv) Mangesh Rameshchandra Mengdey and (v) Divyeshkumar Amrutlal Joshi, to be Judges of the High Court of Gujarat, in that order of seniority, with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices.


UIDAI makes online document updating in Aadhaar free of cost

The Unique Identification Authority of India, UIDAI has decided to allow residents to update documents in their Aadhaar online free of cost. The free service is available for the next three months i.e. till 14th of June this year.

This service is free only on myAadhaar portal and will continue to attract a fee of 50 rupees at physical Aadhaar centres. The UIDAI has been encouraging residents to upload Proof of Identity and Proof of Address documents to revalidate their demographic details, especially if Aadhaar was issued 10 years back and never got updated.
