6th edition of India-Japan Joint Military Exercise Dharma Guardian 2025

The 6th edition of India-Japan Joint Military Exercise Dharma Guardian will be held in the East Fuji Manoeuvre Training area of Japan from 24th February to 9th March 2025. The exercise Dharma Guardian is an annual military exercise conducted alternatively in India and Japan. The exercise Dharma Guardian 2025 will focus on a high degree of physical fitness, joint planning and joint tactical drills.

The 6th edition of India-Japan Joint Military Exercise Dharma Guardian will be held in the East Fuji Manoeuvre Training area of Japan. The exercise is scheduled to be conducted from 24th February to 9th March 2025.

Military Exercise Dharma Guardian reinforces the India-Japan relationship as a cornerstone of regional cooperation, fostering strong military-to-military ties and promoting cultural understanding.

India-Japan Army Participates in Exercise Dharma Guardian

The Indian Army contingent of 120 personnel will be participating in the Military Exercise Dharma Guardian, mainly comprising soldiers from a battalion of the Madras Regiment and troops from other armies and services.

The Japan Ground Self Defence Force (JGSDF) contingent, also comprising similar strength, will be represented by 34th Infantry Regiment.

Aims of Exercise Dharma Guardian

Aim of exercise Dharma Guardian is to enhance interoperability between the two forces while undertaking joint urban warfare and counter-terrorism operations under UN mandate. The exercise will focus on a high degree of physical fitness, joint planning and joint tactical drills.

The last edition (5th) of India-Japan Military Exercise Dharma Guardian was held in Rajasthan in February-March 2024.
