India, Maldives sign MoU for passenger and cargo services


In a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha, the Minister of State for Shipping, Mansukh Mandaviya said, the objective of the MoUis to improve people to people contact between the two countries by providing an alternate, direct and less expensive means for transport for passengers and goods. It also aims to advance economic, social and cultural ties between the two countries.

1,40,134 Houses Sanctioned under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana(Urban)

The Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs has approved the construction of around 1,40,134 more affordable houses for the benefit of urban poor under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban). The approval was given in the 45thmeeting of the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee held in New Delhi. The cumulative number of houses sanctioned under PMAY(U) now is 85,11,574.


CSMC considered proposals from 8 States , namely Uttar Pradesh (54,277), West Bengal (26,585), Gujarat (26,183), Maharashtra (8,499), Assam (9,328), Chhattisgarh (6,507), Rajasthan (4,947) & Haryana (3,808).
