1. Delhi Elections 2020: Election Commission announces Delhi Assembly elections will be held on February 8, results on 11 February
  • Delhi Elections 2020: Election Commission of India (ECI) announced single phase assembly elections on all 70 seats in Delhi.
  • The polling for the Delhi Assembly elections will be held on February 8 and the results will come on February 11.
  • According to the Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora the notification for the polls will be issued on January 14 while the last date of withdrawal of candidature will be January 24.


2. Prime Minister Narendra Modi meets country's top industrialists to improve growth and job creation
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with the country's top industrialists, including Ratan Tata, chairman, Tata Sons; Mukesh Ambani, chairman and MD, Reliance Industries; Anand Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra Group; N Chandrasekaran, chairman, Tata Sons; Sajjan Jindal, chairman and MD, JSW Steel; Baba Kalyani, chairman and MD, Bharat Forge; Sunil Bharti Mittal, founder and chairman, Bharti Enterprises; Gautam Adani, chairman and founder, Adani Group, to discuss ways to improve growth and job creation.


3. Government approves over Rs. 5,908 crore of additional Central assistance to 7 States
  • The Government of India approved additional central assistance of Rs. 5,908 crore to Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tripura and Uttar Pradesh to get funds for floods, landslides, cloudburst during South West Monsoon 2019.
  • The High Level Committee (HLC), chaired by the Union Minister for Home Affairs Amit Shah to consider additional central assistance to seven states, which were affected by floods/ landslides/cloudburst during south west monsoon 2019.
