COVID-19: ‘Janta Curfew’ to be observed on 22nd March from 7 AM to 9 PM

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed the nation on combating the challenge of COVID-19: Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged citizens to follow the concept of  ‘Janta Curfew’ on 22 March, 2020 from 7 AM to 9 PM, wherein no one apart from those involved with essential services is supposed to venture out of home to overcome the crisis of COVID-19.

India and Brunei sign MoU for Exchange of Information notified

India and Brunei singn MoU for Exchange of Information notified: The Agreement between the Government of India and the Government of Brunei Darussalam for the exchange of information and assistance in collection with respect of taxes (hereinafter referred to as the Agreement), was signed in New Delhi, India on 28th of February, 2019. The Agreement has been notified in the Gazette of India (Extraordinary) on 9th of March 2020.

The Agreement enables exchange of information, including banking and ownership information, between the two countries for tax purposes. It is based on international standards of tax transparency and exchange of information and enables sharing of information on request as well as automatic exchange of information. The Agreement also provides for representatives of one country to undertake tax examinations in the other country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresses nation on combating COVID-19 | PM Modi Speech 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on combating the challenge of COVID-19. On the occasion of ‘Navratra’, Prime Minister made nine requests to the people.

Prime Minister said that patience and resolve of all Indians  is vital in fighting the global pandemic which has wreaked havoc all over the world. He requested citizens to follow certain measures to ensure the containment of the fast spreading virus. He emphasized on the importance of not taking the pandemic lightly and the need to be aware and proactive towards prevention of COVID-19.

Prime Minister urged citizens to follow the mantra of “when we are healthy, the world is healthy”. He stressed on the importance of following self imposed norms like ‘social distancing’. Requesting citizens to patiently abide by the norm, he urged the need to isolate oneself and come out of the house only if imperative, while trying to work from home and avoid unnecessary travel. He also urged that senior citizens above the age of 60 should not come out of their homes for the coming few weeks. Highlighting the stress on the hospitals, he urged everyone to avoid routine check ups during this time and to extend the date of surgeries scheduled, wherever feasible........Read More



President Kovind nominates former CJI Ranjan Gogoi to Rajya Sabha  

President  Ram  Nath  Kovind  has  nominated Former  Chief  Justice  of  India  Ranjan  Gogoi  to the  Rajya  Sabha.  According  to  a  notification  issued  by  the  central  government  late  Monday evening,  President  Ram  Nath  Kovind  has  nominated  former  Chief  Justice  Ranjan  Gogoi  to the  Rajya  Sabha.

He  is  the  third  Supreme  Court  justice  to  serve  in  the  Rajya  Sabha,  and  the  first  to  be nominated  to  his  seat,  after  Ranganath  Mishra  and  Baharul  Islam,  who  were  elected  as members  of  the  Indian  National  Congress.

ISRO to launch 36 missions including 10 earth observation satellites in 2020-21: Govt  

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has planned 36 missions, including satellites and launch vehicles, for the fiscal year 2020-21.

This information was given by the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO,, Personnel Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha, Minister Jitendra Singh said that ISRO will send 10 Earth observation satellites during 2020-21.


Indian Navy sets up Quarantine Facility at Visakhapatnam 

Indian Navy has set up a Quarantine Camp at INS Vishwakarma in Eastern Naval Command (ENC) for Indian nationals being evacuated from CoViD 19 affected countries.

The Quarantine Camp is fully equipped to accommodate nearly 200 personnel with all suitable facilities and other arrangements.

The evacuated personnel in the camp will be closely monitored to ensure Social Distancing and under medical supervision in accordance with the protocols laid down by the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India by a team of naval personnel and medical professionals of ENC.


Government has launched Indian Culture Portal to showcase rich cultural heritage of India 

An online portal, namely Indian Culture Portal was launched on 10th December, 2019 to showcase information about the rich cultural heritage of India across the globe. 

The Indian Culture Portal is available in two languages i.e. Hindi and English.

The portal will create awareness about both the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of India, through the content available on the portal, which comprises mainly of rare books, e-books, manuscripts, artefacts from museums, virtual galleries, archives, photo archives, gazetteers, Indian National Bibliography, videos, detailed accounts of Indian UNESCO World Heritage site, Musical Instruments of India, write-ups and beautiful pictures on cuisines, festivals, paintings, folk art and classical art from different States of India etc.

This information was given by the Minister of State (I/c) of Culture and Tourism, Shri Prahlad Singh Patel in a written reply in the Lok Sabha.


Ministry of Tourism has identified 17 sites across the country to develop them as Iconic Tourist Sites

Pursuant to the Budget Announcements of year 2018-19 and year 2019-20 Ministry of Tourism has identified 17 sites in 12 clusters in the country for development as Iconic Tourist Sites namely Taj Mahal & Fatehpur Sikri (Uttar Pradesh), Ajanta & Ellora (Maharashtra), Humayun's Tomb, Red Fort & Qutub Minar (Delhi), Colva (Goa), Amer Fort (Rajasthan), Somnath & Dholavira (Gujarat),  Khajuraho (Madhya Pradesh), Hampi (Karnataka), Mahabalipuram (Tamil Nadu), Kaziranga (Assam), Kumarakom (Kerala) and Mahabodhi Temple (Bihar).

The Ministry shall be developing the above sites in an integrated manner with focus on issues concerning connectivity to the destination, better facilities/experience for the tourists at the site, skill development, involvement of local community, promotion & branding and by bringing private investment. Availability of land free from all incumberances for the proposed developments under the scheme is the responsibility of the respective State Governments/UT administrations.
