1. PM Narendra Modi holds a comprehensive meeting to discuss strategies on boosting investment in India: Highlights with Details
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a comprehensive meeting to discuss strategies to attract more foreign investments into India as well as to promote local investments in order to give a boost to the economy against the backdrop of the COVID-19 Pandemic. 
  • It was discussed that a scheme should be developed to promote more plug and play infrastructure in the existing industrial lands/plots/estates in the country and provide necessary financing support.


2. Nitin Gadkari launches Bank of Schemes, Ideas, Innovation & Research Portal on MSMEs
  • Union Minister of Road transport & Highways and MSME Nitin Gadkari launched Bank of Schemes, Ideas, Innovation and Research portal (ideas.msme.gov.in) on MSMEs through Video Conference from Nagpur.
  • The Portal gives access to all Schemes of Union, State and UT Governments. It has the provision for uploading Ideas, Innovations & Researches in the sector.
  • The portal has unique features of not only crowd sourcing of Ideas, but also evaluation and rating the ideas by crowd sourcing. It can also facilitate inflow of venture capital, foreign collaboration etc.


3. NTA extends deadline for submission of online applications for various exams
  • National Testing Agency has  extended the deadline for submission of online applications for various examinations.
  • The decision has been taken in view of COVID-19 pandemic. The last date to apply for the National Council of Hotel Management JEE 2020, Indira Gandhi National Open University  admission test for PhD and OPENMAT (MBA), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and Jawaharlal Nehru University Entrance Examination has been further extended till 15th of May  this year. 


4. MHA to States/UTs: Ensure Free Movement of Trucks/Goods Carriers: Highlights with Details
  • It has been reported that at inter-State borders in different parts of the country, movement of trucks is not allowed freely and local authorities insist upon separate passes.
  • Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has re-iterated to all States/UTs that, as per the consolidated revised guidelines on lockdown measures, no separate passes are required for through traffic of trucks and goods carriers, including empty trucks etc.


5. CCI approves BP Global proposed 49% acquisition of Reliance BP Mobility Limited (RBPML)
  • The Competition Commission of India (CCI) approves Proposed Combination between BP Global Investments Limited (BP Global) and Reliance BP Mobility Limited (RBPML) under Section 31(1) of the Competition Act, 2002.
  • The subsequent proposed acquisition by BP Global of an aggregate 49% of the fully diluted paid-up equity share capital and voting rights in and of RBPML by way of acquisition of existing equity shares of RBPML from RIL and subscription by BP Global to fresh equity shares of RBPML.


6. CCI approves the acquisition of less than 5% shareholding in Intas Pharmaceuticals Limited by Canary Investments Limited and Link Investment Trust II
  • The Competition Commission of India (CCI) approves the acquisition of less than 5% shareholding in Intas Pharmaceuticals Limited by Canary Investments Limited and Link Investment Trust II, under Section 31(1) of the Competition Act, 2002.
  • The Proposed Combination relates to acquisition of less than 5% shareholding ofIntas Pharmaceuticals Limited (Intas) by Canary Investments Limited (Canary) and Link Investment Trust II (Link II).


7. CCI approves proposed acquisition of 100% shares and control of Tech Data Corporation by Tiger Midco LLC
  • The Competition Commission of India (CCI) approves the proposed acquisition of 100% shares and control of Tech Data Corporation by Tiger Midco LLC.
  • The proposed combination relates to the acquisition of Tech Data Corporation (Tech Data) by Tiger Midco LLC (Tiger Midco) by way of merger of Tech Data with a wholly owned subsidiary of Tiger Midco, viz., Merger Sub.


8. PM Modi discusses COVID -19 situation with Myanmar leader
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a telephonic conversation with Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, State Counsellor of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar on 30 April 2020.
  • The leaders discussed the evolving COVID 19 scenario in the domestic and regional contexts and updated each other on the steps being taken to control the spread of the pandemic.
  • The leaders agreed to remain in touch and work together to address the present and future challenges posed by COVID-19.


9. AYURAKSHA-Corona Se Jung- Delhi Police Ke Sang launched by All India Institute of Ayurveda
  • The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), under the Ministry of AYUSH and Delhi Police organised AYURAKSHA programme for Delhi Police personal at New Delhi. The joint programme titled AYURAKSHA “Corona Se Jung- Delhi Police Ke Sang” aims to fight against corona through simple and time tested Ayurveda immunity boosting measures.
  • These measures are as per the advisory issued by the Ministry of AYUSH. The recommended formulations like Chyawanaprasha (Amla as main content), Anu Taila and SanshamaniVati (prepared from Guduchi) have simple herbs which are time tested and scientifically proven for enhancing the immunity.

  • Amid nationwide lockdown due to COVID-19 crisis Janaushadhi Sugam Mobile App is helping people in a big way to locate their nearest Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Janaushadhi Kendra (PMJAK) and availability of  affordable generic medicine with its price.
  • Around 325000 people are using Janaushadhi Sugam Mobile App to avail the host of benefits provided by it.


11. Ministry of Shipping launches new website-(shipmin.gov.in)
  • The Ministry of Shipping has revamped its website shipmin.gov.in and launched it on 30th April, 2020. The new website is based on open source technology and is deployed on NIC cloud Meghraj. The website is designed as per Guidelines for Indian Government Websites (GIGW) issued by Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, Government of India.
  • The new website has a well designed and dynamic Homepage. Social Media Integration with better video uploading facility is a new feature in this website.
