21st India – Russia Annual Summit 2021 held in New Delhi    

President of the Russian Federation Mr. Vladimir Putin, paid a working visit to New Delhi on 06 December 2021 for the 21st India – Russia Annual summit with Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi.

Key Highlights

President Putin was accompanied by a high level delegation. Bilateral talks between Prime Minister Modi and President Putin were held in a warm and friendly atmosphere. The two leaders expressed satisfaction at the sustained progress in the ‘Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership’ between both countries despite the challenges posed by the Covid pandemic. They welcomed the holding of the first meeting of the 2+2 Dialogue of Foreign and Defence Ministers and the meeting of the Inter-Governmental Commission on Military & Military-Technical Cooperation in New Delhi on 6 December 2021.

The both leaders discussed regional and global developments, including the post-pandemic global economic recovery, and the situation in Afghanistan. They agreed that both countries share common perspectives and concerns on Afghanistan and appreciated the bilateral roadmap charted out at the NSA level for consultation and cooperation on Afghanistan.

The Joint Statement titled India-Russia: Partnership for Peace, Progress and Prosperity aptly covers the state and prospects of bilateral ties. Coinciding with the visit, several Government-to-Government Agreements and MoUs, as well as those between commercial and other organizations of both countries, were signed in different sectors such as trade, energy, science & technology, intellectual property, outer space, geological exploration, cultural exchange, education, etc. This is a reflection of the multifaceted nature of our bilateral partnership.

President Putin extended an invitation to Prime Minister Modi to visit Russia for the 22nd India-Russia Annual Summit in 2022.


PM Modi inaugurates development projects in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh 

Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections 2022: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi dedicated to the nation various development projects in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh.

The Prime Minister Modi congratulated the people of UP for the inauguration of AIIMS and fertilizer plant and for the new building of Regional Medical Research Center of ICMR in Gorakhpur. He recalled laying the foundation stone for AIIMS and fertilizer plant, 5 years ago and inaugurating both today, underlining the working style of the government of finishing projects once undertaken.


MoHUA and UNDP sign MoU for Strengthening Waste Management Sector in India  

Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) India to strengthen the waste management sector in India under the overall ambit of Swachh Bharat Mission- Urban 2.0.

The MoU, operational for a period of five years (2021-26).

The MoU signed between MoHUA and UNDP India marks the beginning of a collaborative journey to strengthen collection, segregation, recovery and recycling of all kinds of non-biodegradable waste, and integrated plastic waste management under SBM-U 2.0.


NMPB and CSIR-CIMAP Lucknow Signed MoU to promote the production of Medicinal Plants 

The National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB) and the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants, (CSIR-CIMAP), Lucknow signed an MoU today for extending joint collaborative efforts to promote the production of quality planting material (QPM) of medicinal plants.

The MoU will facilitate development of QPM of medicinal plants and herbs identified by NMPB and help in establishment of their nurseries for QPM development, promotion, conservation and cultivation of the appropriate medicinal plants in different agro-climatic zones. CSIR-CIMAP Lucknow, can also undertake research on mass multiplication, agro-technology development, Quality Planting Material generation of selected medicinal plants and herbs.

Himachal Pradesh ranked first in the country by administering the second dose of COVID-19 vaccine to the targeted eligible citizens in Himachal Pradesh. This information was shared by Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur on Twitter.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 128.76 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 98.36%

With the administration of 79,39,038 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 128.76 Cr (1,28,76,10,590) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

The recovery of 10,004 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) to 3,40,79,612.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.36%, highest since March 2020. 6,822 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours. This is the lowest in 558 days.

India’s Active Caseload presently at 95,014 is lowest in 554 days. Active cases constitute 0.27% of the country's total Positive Cases, which is lowest since March 2020.

The Weekly Positivity Rate at 0.78% remains less than 1% for the last 23 days now. The Daily Positivity rate reported to be 0.63%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 2% for the last 64 days and below 3% for 99 consecutive days now.
