Army Chief Gen Manoj Pande on three-day official visit to Bangladesh 

Continuing with the excellent bilateral defence ties between India and Bangladesh, General Manoj Pande, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) has proceeded on a visit to the Bangladesh from 18 to 20 July 2022. This is the first foreign visit by General Manoj Pande since assumption as Army Chief.

Key Highlights

The Army Chief will commence his visit by paying tributes to the brave-hearts who made the supreme sacrifice during the Liberation War of 1971 by laying a wreath at the Shikha Anirban on 18 July 2022. During the day, the COAS will be carrying out multiple meetings with senior officials of the security establishment and exchange views on various defence related issues. He will also pay tributes to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Museum in Dhanmondi.

The Army Chief will address the students and faculty of Defence Services Command & Staff College, Mirpur. He will thereafter visit and interact with the members of Bangladesh Institute of Peace Support and Operation Training (BIPSOT), a premier institute of Bangladesh which trains peacekeepers for employment in various UN Peace Operations. This will be followed by a visit to the Bangabandhu Military Museum at Mirpur.


52nd BGB-BSF DG level conference begins in Dhaka 

The 52nd BGB-BSF Director General level Border conference begins in Bangladesh with the arrival of the Indian team led by DG, BSF Pankaj Singh in Dhaka.

On the inaugural day, the two sides discussed a wide range of issues related to border management, smuggling of arms and ammunition, drugs, trafficking of women and children and various developmental activities within the 150 yards of the international border.

Vice President of Gambia Badara A Joof has arrived in India today. He is on a 5-day visit to India. As per External Affairs Ministry statement the Vice President Badara Joof will participate in 17th CII-EXIM Bank conclave 2022 on India-Africa Growth Partnership in New Delhi.

The Monsoon Session of the Parliament will begin today. It will continue till 12th of August.

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu chaired all party leaders' meetings. Deputy Chairman Rajya Sabha Harivansh, Leader in the Rajya Sabha Piyush Goyal, Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh, NCP leader Sharad Pawar, Sasmit Patra of BJD, V Vijaysai Reddy of YSRCP, Tiruchi Shiva of DMK and others attended the meeting.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 200 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.47%

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 200 Cr (2,00,04,61,095) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years was started on 16 March, 2022. So far, more than 3.79 Cr (3,79,98,722) adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Similarly, the COVID-19 precaution dose administration for age group 18-59 years also started from 10th April, 2022 onwards.

India’s Active Caseload currently stands at 1,44,264. Active cases now constitute 0.33% of the country's total Positive Cases. 16,935 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.47%. 16,069 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,30,97,510.

The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 6.48% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 4.58%.
