IPS Sonali Mishra Assumes Charge As New Director General of RPF

IPS Officer Ms. Sonali Mishra has assumed charge as the new Director General of Railway Protection Force (RPF). The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved Sonali Mishra appointment as DG of RPF until her superannuation on October 31, 2026. This is the first historic step in the 143-year journey of the Railway Protection Force when a woman has been appointed to the post of Director General.

IPS Sonali Mishra Appointed As New Director General of RPF

IPS Officer Ms. Sonali Mishra has been appointed as the new Director General of Railway Protection Force (RPF). The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved Sonali Mishra appointment as DG of RPF until her superannuation on October 31, 2026.

IPS Sonali Mishra took over the appointment of new new Director General of Railway Protection Force (RPF) at New Delhi with effect from 1st August 2025.

About IPS Sonali Mishra DG of RPF

Sonali Mishra is a 1990-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre.

Prior to being appointed as the Director General of RPF, Sonali Mishra served as Additional Director General of Police (Selection/Recruitment) with the additional charges of ADG, Police Training & Research Institute, Bhopal and Director of the Madhya Pradesh Police Academy, Bhopal.

IPS Sonali Mishra DG of RPF has also served in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Border Security Force (BSF) and has international exposure of having served with the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Kosovo.
