Lt Gen Pushpendra Singh Assumes Charge As Vice Chief of the Army Staff (VCOAS)

Lieutenant General Pushpendra Singh has assumed charge as the Vice Chief of the Army Staff (VCOAS). General Pushpendra Singh has replaced Lieutenant General NS Raja Subramani. Prior to being appointed as the Vice Chief of the Indian Army, Lt Gen Pushpendra Singh has served as Director General Operational Logistics & Strategic Movement at Army Headquarters. General Officer Pushpendra Singh was commissioned into 4th Battalion, The Parachute Regiment (Special Forces) in December 1987.

Lt Gen Pushpendra Singh Appointed As New Vice Chief of the Army Staff (VCOAS)

Lieutenant General Pushpendra Singh has been appointed as the new Vice Chief of the Army Staff (VCOAS). He has replaced Lieutenant General NS Raja Subramani

Lt Gen Pushpendra Singh took over the appointment of new Vice Chief of the Army Staff (VCOAS) at New Delhi with effect from 31st July 2025.

Prior to being appointed as the Vice Chief of the Indian Army, Lt Gen Pushpendra Singh has served as Director General Operational Logistics & Strategic Movement at Army Headquarters.

About Lt Gen Pushpendra Singh New VCOAS 

Lt Gen Pushpendra Singh New Vice Chief of the Army Staff (VCOAS) was commissioned into 4th Battalion, The Parachute Regiment (Special Forces) in December 1987.

The Vice Chief of the Indian Army, Lt Gen Pushpendra Singh is an alumnus of La’ Martiniere College, Lucknow, Lucknow University and the prestigious Indian Military Academy, Dehradun.

General Officer Pushpendra Singh has served in ‘OP PAWAN’, ‘OP MEGHDOOT’, ‘OP ORCHID’ and has had multiple tenures in ‘OP RAKSHAK’.

General Officer Pushpendra Singh has held various Command and Staff appointments. He commanded a Special Forces Unit in the Kashmir Valley and on the Line of Control.

He later commanded an Infantry Brigade and a Mountain Division in ‘OP SNOW LEOPARD’ along the Line of Actual Control.

The General Officer was GOC of a Corps headquartered in Himachal Pradesh and responsible for sensitive Jammu, Samba and Pathankot areas. The General Officer has insightful knowledge and deep understanding of operational dynamics on both Western and Northern Borders.

Educational Life of Lt Gen Pushpendra Singh

Vice Chief of the Indian Army, Lt Gen Pushpendra Singh holds a Master in Management Studies from Osmania University and a Masters in Philosophy from the Punjab University.

He has attended the prestigious Staff Course at DSSC, Wellington, Higher Defence Management Course at CDM Secunderabad and Advance Professional Programme in Public Administration at Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA).

Awards And Honoured

Lt Gen Pushpendra Singh was awarded the Ati Vishist Seva Medal and Bar to Sena Medal by President of India for his distinguished service to the Nation.
