INS Vikrant successfully completes 4th phase of sea trial    

The fourth phase of Sea Trials for Indigenous Aircraft Carrier - Vikrant has been successfully completed during which integrated trials of the majority of equipment and systems onboard were undertaken.

The ship’s delivery is being targeted in end Jul 22, followed by commissioning of the ship in August 2022 to commemorate ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’.

Background 

Maiden Sea Trials of IAC were successfully completed in Aug 21. This was followed by second and third phases of Sea Trials in Oct 21 and Jan 22 respectively. During these three phases of Sea Trials, endurance testing of propulsion machinery, electrical & electronic suites, deck machinery, life saving appliances, ship’s Navigation and Communication systems was undertaken.....Read More


PM Modi unveils National Emblem cast on the roof of the new Parliament Central Vista 

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the National Emblem cast on the roof of the New Parliament Building Central Vista today morning.

About

The National Emblem is made of bronze with a total weight of 9500 Kg and is 6.5 m in height. It has been cast at the top of the Central Foyer of New Parliament Building. A supporting structure of steel weighing around 6500 Kg has been constructed to support the Emblem.

The concept sketch and process of casting of the National Emblem on the roof of New Parliament Building has gone through eight different stages of preparation from clay modeling/computer graphic to bronze casting and polishing.


Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh to launch 75 newly-developed AI products 

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will inaugurate the first-ever ‘Artificial Intelligence in Defence’ (AIDef) symposium and exhibition, organised by the Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence, in New Delhi today.

The event will feature an exhibition to showcase the cutting edge AI-enabled solutions developed by the Services, research organisations, Industry and start-ups & innovators and launch of AI products for the market.

During this Defense Minister Rajnath Singh launched 75 newly-developed Artificial Intelligence (AI) products/technologies, having applications in defence as part of the celebrations marking 75 years of Independence ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ and to promote ‘Aatmanirbharta’ initiative in Defence.

The products are in the domains of automation/unmanned/robotics systems, cyber security, human behaviour analysis, intelligent monitoring system, logistics and supply chain management, speech/voice analysis and Command, Control, Communication, Computer & Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (C4ISR) systems and Operational Data Analytics. Besides the 75 products being launched, another 100 are in various stages of development.

India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 198.88 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.50%

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 198.88 Cr (1,98,88,77,537) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years was started on 16 March, 2022. So far, more than 3.74 Cr (3,74,90,962) adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Similarly, the COVID-19 precaution dose administration for age group 18-59 years also started from 10th April, 2022 onwards.

India’s Active Caseload currently stands at 1,30,713. Active cases now constitute 0.30% of the country's total Positive Cases. 16,678 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.50%. 14,629 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,29,83,162.

The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 4.18% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 5.99%.
